We Need You…….Opportunities Exist:
Coach
We need people to run and walk with kids. You do not have to be running 5 minute miles or going for 10 mile runs, we have a range of runners and walking is part of getting in shape and becoming better.
Here are some things to know about assisting with XC coaching:
we have the workouts set, you just show up and carry it out - no planning needed
you run with a group of 4-10 runners
we like to have 2 adults if possible with each group so groups can split up or someone needs to walk or someone needs to go back to the bathroom
we need you to talk to kids; they want to talk about themselves and what they are doing (we listen); we want this to be social and fun and community-driven
you should not come to get your workout “in” or push the pace, this is about them - we run from the back
coaches will be asked to
Acquire a USATF membership (we pay for it)
Complete a USATF background check (we pay for it)
Complete Safe Sport training (30 minute - free)
Volunteer
We need people who can help us with various organizational activities at practice and meets.
Here are some examples that come up:
guard our “stuff” at practices - all of the stuff kids bring gets left while we go run - someone needs to stay and guard all of the cell phones and keep dogs from peeing on our water bottles
organize activities such as movie night, bowling night, potluck, swimming - whatever you want to dream up and organize
help with our team tents and camps at meets
help discharge our home meets with such things as mowing, course set up, hauling hay bales, directing corners on race course, registration work, hauling gear, timing races
