Indoor High School Distance Running

What?

Historically, the BTC Indoor T&F Program has not focused heavily on indoor distance running. While we have had runners racing 1500m - 3200m distances, we haven’t had the space or resources to support them. With our access to the new Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center, we have created a program specifically for high school athletes who want to focus on distance running races, from 1500m to 3200m (or longer!) Both our Indoor T&F Program and our Indoor High School Distance Program will compete together as one Bozeman Track Club team.

Who?

This program is for any high school distance runner, from any school in Montana. Workouts will be tailored for experienced athletes who want to improve and compete, while enjoying a new and modern indoor facility! The program will be led by Casey Jermyn, assisted by various BTC coaches.

While we enjoy training younger athletes, it is our experience that their winter track development is best if focused on speed, in the 400m and 800m distance races. Therefore, this program is limited to 9-12th grade athletes.

When?

The 2026 season starts January 6th, and runs through March 5th. Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday night from 7:00-8:30. All practices will meet at the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center. Some workout sessions, such as intervals and repeats, will be indoors. And some workouts, such as tempos, may be run outdoors if the weather permits. Athletes should be prepared for either option!

Registration:

The season fee for our Indoor High School Distance Program is $100. Additionally, all participants must have an active USATF membership ($30 annually).

Note: These costs do not include registration fees or travel for meets. We also offer scholarships for those who may need it.

Registration will open the first week of December!
