Season Wrap-up and Upcoming Events

Hi all,

This will be my last email for the outdoor season. It was delayed more than I wanted, but better late than never!

USATF Regionals/Nationals

This year we had excellent performances at the Regional meet in both attendance and qualifiers for Nationals. Congrats to those athletes who set regional records: Mena Kamps with 2, Kate Breeding, and Nash Coley!

Of our 34 athletes that made the trip, we had 10 individual champions and 30 eligible to advance to the National meet. 12 made the trip to Eugene and we fared well in the competition.

At the national meet, we had many great experiences and performances topped by Mena Kamps (7th in jav) and Ava Dierolf (8th in jav) both earning All-american honors. Congrats to all that made the trip and a special congrats to Mena and Ava!

Middle School XC is Underway

If your middle-schooler is interested in the cross country season (race distance around 1.8 miles), reach out!

Indoor Track Starts in December

The indoor season is a great way to prepare for the HS/MS outdoor seasons. We typically start in December with core/strength/injury prevention work and start on the indoor track in January. Details will be posted to the website.

Interested in Helping the Club

We are having our annual BTC Board meeting in early September. If you have a desire to get involved and help the club stay sustainable for the future, please reach out to me before September 1st.

Until next time, thank you all for joining us and I hope it was a rewarding experience. Feedback is always welcome, especially with ideas of how to improve.

Best,

Chad

BTC Weekly - 7/16/2023

Hi all,

Congrats to those who competed at the Big Sky State Games yesterday and today in Billings. Since I wasn't able to attend this year, I'd love any race reports that people have.

The season has seemingly flown by and we are now in our final week of practice. The two remaining practices this week will focus on the athletes going to Nationals, but others are welcome to join. We may be done before 8 pm based on the number of athletes.

Remaining Schedule

  • Tue 7/18 @ 6pm: Practice at GHS  (mostly geared toward those going to Nationals, others welcome)

  • Wed 7/19 @ 6pm: Registration Deadline for Nationals

  • Thu 7/20 @ 6pm: Final Practice @ GHS (mostly geared toward those going to Nationals, others welcome)

  • Mon 7/24 to Sun 7/30: USATF JO National Championships

Nationals

  • Please double-check entries here: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Print/SingleTeam?Cal=5066057&t=s4zos&mode=athlete

    • If your entry has a line through it, you are NOT registered.

  • Schedule: https://www.usatf.org/events/2023/2023-usatf-national-junior-olympic-track-field-cha/schedule

  • Registration: https://www.bozemantrackclub.org/meet-registration/usatfnationals-2023

Pictures?

If you have any pictures you are willing to send to me for some social media posts, please do so!

Thanks and have a great Sunday!

BTC Weekly - 7/10/2023

Hi all,

What a weekend! First, I know not everyone achieved their goals. That isn't ever easy but we can always learn and improve. If goals were always easily achievable, there would be no challenge and we would never grow. Learn, challenge, grow and go get that goal next time!

However, we did have some amazing performances from our team. The weather was hot but, overall, we achieved so many PRs (personal records) that it really blew me away. Not only that, we but had a few athletes set new Region 11 records! Congrats to those who made the trek and gave it their all.

If you have any pictures you would like to share that we can post on our social media account, please send them over to chad@bozemantrackclub.org!

Remaining Schedule

  • Tue July 11 at 6 pm: Practice @ GHS

  • Thu July 13 at 6 pm: Practice @ GHS

  • Tue July 18 at 6 pm: Practice @ GHS (mostly geared toward those going to Nationals, others welcome)

  • Thu July 20 at 6 pm: FINAL PRACTICE @ GHS (mostly geared toward those going to Nationals, others welcome)

Big Sky State Games

Registration has closed. However, I'd like to make sure you have the equipment you need. Please let me know if you are going to BSSG and are in the field events. We'll have at least one coach there, but we'd like to make sure you have the proper implements. I'll be unavailable since I'll be at a wedding.

USATF Nationals in Eugene - July 24-30

If you finished in the top 8 at Regionals, you are eligible to continue on to the National meet in Eugene, OR. As a youth athlete, I was able to run at Hayward Field many years ago. It was an excellent experience and I recommend it for those who can make the trek.

Of note: we may not have coaches available for an athlete's event. Plan on being prepared on your own. I realize that can present challenges so please ask questions of the coaches in advance at the next few practices!

Little Bobcat Track

MSU’s Bobcat Track and Field Association is hosting 3 track meets on Wednesdays (12th, 19th, 26th) starting at 5:30 pm. They are geared toward kids under the age of 12. Have a young sibling? Go run with them and cheer them on! These meets are free and based on the run-jump-throw program.

Have a great week and see you tomorrow.

Hi all,

I hope everyone had a good time at the BTC Spring Classic. We were able to run ahead of schedule and avoided a storm, so I count that as a good day! Congrats to all the athletes who competed. Some of you had PRs, some had adversity, but we learn and improve from all of it!

Note: I'm hosting a conference call tonight for anyone who has questions about the meet in Missoula and advancing to the Regional meet in Pocatello. I'll also use this time to discuss registration for the Big Sky State Games in Billings.

BTC Spring Classic Results

Thank you to all that made the trek to compete with us today. The weather mostly cooperated minus some headwinds on the homestretch for the afternoon races. I hope everyone had an enjoyable time and safe travels back home. I want to thank Liza and Keli for their timing magic on a new system...they make everything go better! Our starter, Annie C. is a rockstar. Also, another big thank you to our head officials that kept us running smoothly: Jeff M., Jeff K., Josie C., Justin J. (and his brother), Aiden M., Logan C., Alex H., Dave S., Chantel S., Mike M., and last but not least Jason N. You are all amazing and this couldn't happen without you! It may go without saying, but Lucy is the glue that keeps me in check and gets all the credit for making sure everything is organized and prepared.

We had a number of volunteers that kicked-butt today. Track meets only run well if you have good help...and they nailed it!

If you have any suggestions for improvements, please don't hesitate to reach out and drop me a note. I can't change all the things, but we should always strive to improve.

Congrats to the athletes and we hope to see you during our 6th-12th grade winter meet, the BTC All-comers, on Sunday, February 4th at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at Montana State University.

BTC Spring Classic Schedule and Info

Hi all,

There was a fairly significant update to the schedule for field events based on the number of entries. Additionally, the track events had some time added. See attachment. This will be a rolling schedule and if we get ahead we will stay ahead!

Some notes

  • 1/8 or 1/4 inch pyramid spikes ONLY - no pins or christmas trees

  • 4 attempts, no finals for long jump, triple jump, and javelin

  • 6 attempts for shot put and discus

High Jump

  • For athletes that check out for other events, we will only hold at a height for 5 minutes after all other participants have finished that height

  • If you don't check out and go to another event, then a miss may be recorded 1 minute after calling your name as "up."

  • Attempts may be taken out of order if someone needs to check out for another event.

  • The reason for these rules is that we have a lot of high jumpers and may not finish in time otherwise.

We will be using AthleticLive for this meet. We will not be printing any results. Additionally, up-to-date heat sheets and flight sheets can be found on the AthelticeLive website: https://live.athletic.net/meets/26161

The weather looks pretty good, with some rain in the middle of the day. If there is lightning within 10 miles, we will take a 30 minute break.

Infield under maintenance

The infield is under maintenance and the school has asked us to stay off of it as much as possible. There are two other grass areas for warming up (west of the softball fields and North of the track by the school).

See you tomorrow!
